Stephen Burns' practice focuses primarily on technology transactions, information and privacy law, and the commercialization of intellectual property. Stephen's practice includes advising organizations with respect to their procurement, outsourcing and other IT transactions and their information management, document retention, privacy and rights management programs, policies and procedures. Stephen currently advises a number of large natural resource companies in respect of their IT, privacy, document retention and information management projects. Stephen’s technology practice includes advising technology companies in respect of development, distribution, and licensing agreements, and the development and implementation of their intellectual property portfolio management policies and practices. Stephen is currenlty a director of the Aspen Family & Community Network Society and Chairs the Calgary International Language Foundation board, part of the Calgary French and International School community. Stephen was called to the Alberta Bar in 1998, and in British Columbia in 2014.

Worked with Petro-Canada's Consumer Marketing (down-stream bulk plant and light industrial) group in Toronto for 5 summers in varying roles including as a field auditer and financial analayst
