Professional Experience: Former Medical Director and current Senior Staff Psychiatrist, The Counseling Center of Nashua, Nashua, NH. Medical Director of the largest private group practice in New England with 130 providers (psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical nurse practitioners and social workers) and over 20,000 patients under treatment. Dr. Ellen’s psychopharmacology practice at The Counseling Center of Nashua includes the diagnosis and treatment of major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, insomnia/sleep disorders, and ADHD.National Lecturer on Topics of Psychopharmacology. Dr. Ellen has given over 5,000 presentations to medical professionals at local, regional, and national meetings since 1999. These have included large national CME programs (e.g., the 4-day Neuroscience Education Institute Global Psychopharmacology Congress and the 2-day weekend symposium-based NEI Academies with Stephen M. Stahl, MD, PhD; CME LLC U.S. Psychiatric and Mental Health Congress; psychCME weekend conferences and dinner meetings, i3dln/i3CME CME presentations, Pri-Med Institute CME programs), Web-based speaker training meetings, regional consultant and speaker training meetings, teleconferences, physician office-based lunch presentations, and dinner presentations. Dr. Ellen’s presentations include a special focus on the practice of psychopharmacology in the following areas: treatment of major depression, bipolar disorders, psychotic disorders, challenges in schizophrenia including prolactinemia and metabolic issues, psychopharmacology in the ECT practice, anxiety disorders, diagnosis and treatment of energy and fatigue dysfunction in medical and psychiatric practices, the hypothalamic sleep-wake center, and advances in the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of insomnia and sleep disorders.
