CurrentI am dedicated to creating art that beautifies the environment, celebrates life and the human spirit – by instilling feelings of meaning, identity and connection to each other. My relationship to sculpture is rooted in my love of nature and constructing things. And, a fascination with the tension between nature, humanity and technology.Public Art is fundamental to community health! Through nurturing works I create memorable experiences that impact individuals and communities long into the future. My inspiration meaning and depth come from multifaceted experiences: a childhood on the ocean, projects in my father’s woodworking shop, military service in the US and Israeli - where I witnessed the consequences of war, as project manager for U S Steel Corporation building bridges, and, as Founder of the late Service Media foundation ArtSafe. My public art is inspired by the site’s history and stories it holds, the natural and built environment and how it will be used. From 1994 - 2010 I was the Founding Director of ArtSafe; a Service Media foundation which used the arts as a vehicle to transform and save lives of young people. Its programs enabled youth in prisons and inner-city schools to heal from the impact of violence, discover their talents and vocational identities empowering them to become productive community members. My works are in collections in the US, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, Israel, Russia and Spain. They include art for corporations, institutions and residences, inspirational public spaces, functional furnishings, and architectural detailing.
