I am an experienced political campaigner and community leader. Having spent 30 years in front line of politics in the UK – including 12 years at Cabinet level in one of the largest local authorities in the country as well as 4 years serving on the national board of the Conservative Party I have developed an in depth knowledge of both national and international politics with a particular focus on the delivery of transformational changes for communities at both a local and strategic level.In the last decade I have held senior office within Sport England and I was responsible for chairing the London 2012 organising committee’s activities in the East of England – Taking responsibility for Olympic/Paralympic legacy in the 6 counties, The Olympic/Paralympic torch relay in the region, and our 2 Olympic Venues – White Water in Broxbourne and Mountain Biking in Hadleigh.Nationally within the Local Government Association I lead on Olympic/Paralympic legacy work and chaired the resources committee of the Association. In South Essex I served as Deputy Chairman of the Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership and took the political lead in steering both South Essex and the wider partnership through the change from the last Labour Government to the current coalition.Within Essex I have lead for most of the past decade on Education. Helping to roll out the Academy program under the last government as well as the coalition, whilst at the same time driving through large scale school reorganisation projects in Harlow, Canvey and Colchester.Over the past 12 months I have been working with representatives of Japanese Local Government to help them make the most of the opportunities presented by Tokyo's hosting of the 2020 games.
