I lead the Data & Search and Events, Rules & Communications teams where I oversaw 15 direct reports as part of the Product Platform Services team. I helped to hire and grow Product Platform Services from one team with 7 people to 4 teams and 32 individual contributors. As a hands-on manager, I mentored engineers using a variety of techniques including pair programming. I also contributed to the architecture of systems were integral in funding over $73 billion in loans in 2020.

I lead the architecture and development of systems that interface with myriad providers of hotel rates and availability, homogenize their data, augment it with connecting room information, make it available to the dozens of consumers that power the suite of applications necessary for you to book adjoining rooms at hotels... so you don't have to go to bed when your kids do while traveling.Highlights: * best in class time for rate and availability searches * handles millions of daily searches * 99.999% uptime since 2018Interesting parts of the tech stack: * GraphQL as an internal interface to our services APIs * React as a front end client of GraphQL * Services and systems built primarily in Clojure and Clojurescript * Custom event-sourcing system built on top of Postgres * Caching system that keeps billions of rows of availability data fresh and accurate

As the Team Lead for the data transformation team, I was responsible for organizing, prioritizing and implementing solutions on a daily basis. I was additionally responsible for interacting with other team leads to coordinate cross-team development efforts.I'm particularly proud of a rewrite of the data transformation system that I spearheaded that:* drastically decreased the time it took to transform billions of rows of data on a nightly basis* improved the quality and accuracy of the insights derived from these transformations* improved the speed and ease with which we could make modifications to the applications in this system

JamLab was a digital music collaboration application. Automated analysis of musician's original artwork matched them with compatible musicians for collaboration. The application featured audio fingerprinting to detect non-original music, acoustic analysis and machine learning to determine musical style and a recommendation engine to find similar musicians and even complimentary instrumentalists to collaborate with online. Live jam sessions and online multi-tracking were in development at the time of closure.

Truly universal media device control.Developed client/server software system for a set-top box running an embedded OS which paired with a custom-built wifi-enabled remote (running an embedded linux OS and a GTK+ UI) or a Mac OS desktop application to allow configuration and access to your home media system.

Drove front-end development efforts for a pre-AJAX asynchronous web-based UI for real estate content management. At the time, homes.com was a premier web portal for Multiple Listing Services.

Developed intranet applications in ASP Classic and VBScript 5 and spear-headed a successful effort to put the ordinances codified by Municipal Code Corporation online, in a searchable format.
