Worked in Time and Motion at Fletcher Plywood, Warehouses for North Safety Equipment and delivery driving until 1975, when I took a permanent position on the waterfront in Lyttelton. Moved to being a telly clerk. Took redundancy in 1992 and was invited to join the IT department of the Port of Lyttelton as a contractor, due to my knowledge of computers and the shipping industry. I was involved in design and testing of an in-house container tracking system. I stayed on as Administrator after the go live. This was not a successful system due to the lack of performance of the hardware available at that time. In late 1995 Company moved to a product called SPARCS. I was responsible for testing, training, case admin with the supplier, installation, manual writing, everything really, as it ran on Macs and no one else was interested.2004 became Navis certified SPARCS advanced modules.Late 2005 the company decided to upgrade to new Navis product. I was again heavily involved with the testing, design and eventual first go live at Lyttelton. After go live continued with modifying test plans, testing new patches and releases, liaising with the supplier about bugs, installation, integration and customisation until leaving a the end of 2012.I took a position as Support Account Manager in the ANZAC region with the supplier, Navis. I left this position at the end of July 2013.From August 2013 until August 2015 work as a process anaylist for Ports of Auckland during their installation of SPARCS N4, responsible for configuration and communication with developers.From 1993 to 1996 I was technical director for an Internet service provider in Christchurch,responsible for building servers, installing users, web design.
