Worked with QA team lead to enhance and extend system test programs in support of a continuous integration development model with automated nightly product builds. Duties included test development for Windows and Linux platforms, writing up new test plans, configuration validation of new compilers and linker versions, extension of testing for data obfuscation functionality and testing of GuardIT ™ for general release. Generated in-house testing reports as well as running third party virus analysis tests.

Application and automation tools development for a 24/7 world-wide customer support organization. Also responsible for web-based application support for a complex multi-national software division within Schneider Electric. Created an automated monitoring utility that gathers system event log data for a large number of application and web servers. Email notification functions allowed developers and managers to get targeted information regarding application failures. Responsible for writing deployment scripts for production and testing web servers. Nearing completion of second extended six month contract.

Responsible engineer for Lattice Engines’ Automation Framework (LEAF), an internal tool used by all Analytic Engineers to process customer databases for use by Lattice’s flagship product, salesPrism. Successfully developed and released two major new revisions of LEAF to enthusiastic reviews. LEAF is a multi-threaded desktop application written in VB.Net 2010 using extensive SQL Server 2008 backend stored procedures.Implemented initial release of ComputeFarmManager, a parallel processing subsystem for database conversion performance enhancements.

Worked with a team of 25 senior VB developers on Integic’s premier electronic patient record being developed for the Department of Defense (Clinical Workstation). Developed, enhanced and supported 4 of the 20 major interface modules providing the front-end GUI forms used to access an enterprise database implemented with Oracle 8i and Tuxedo. One of four developers responsible for reviewing all code changes submitted for the daily build. Selected as part a team of 5 developers to create a standalone version of the application to work on a laptop – for deployment in the field of battle. Chosen for the team to implement a new real time performance analysis function, we instrumented the entire application to send transaction and interface timing data to Tivoli. Lead a development team to certify Clinical Workstation as DII COE compliant, being responsible for support, test and troubleshooting for the mid-tier applications. Implemented data validation and system monitoring tools on the Veteran’s Administration (VA) Health Data Repository Prototype (HDRP).

Lead designer and project leader for a new mug shot management and investigation tool used by law enforcement agencies. Designed an image capture module that supports live video and digital snapshots, as well as scanned images. Designed custom component (based on ImageGear) to enhance image and store JPG data in blobs in the MS SQL Server 7.0 (SS7) database. Made extensive use of VB’s data environment along with SS7 stored procedures and triggers. Designed legacy data and image import module. Designed the user interface for fingerprint capture and one-to-many search. Assisted in the design of the ActiveX fingerprint-matching server. Designed and wrote much of the text and graphics for the context-sensitive online help. Feasibility study done for the U.S. Border Patrol to implement an RFID tracking system at several border crossing truck inspection facilities.Converted an existing 16-bit stand-alone access control application written in VB4 into a 32-bit ActiveX server written in VB6. Encapsulated 16-bit DLL from third party vendor as a server to work with 32-bit client. Designed remote client components to access the new ActiveX server over an existing wide area frame-relay network. Directed deployment of the application and related equipment to 22 remote offices statewide. Integrated fingerprint scanners to control door locks and alarms and to retrieve personnel information. Application used a distributed access client server model with central database and integrated reporting tools. Designed a configuration management tool to provide centralized software updates, and remote application launch and shutdown.

Responsible for the design and implementation of the GUI for a new capacity planning and historical data analysis product. Written in VB4 and VB5, using Access 3.0 and ODBC, Win32 API and custom components from Sheridan and Pinnacle Software. Application features included: simultaneous access to multiple large databases (up to 17 partitions); graphs including variables from any/all databases; customized statistical functions; advanced time-series filtering function supporting arbitrarily complex terms; extensive use of graphical tools and calendar controls for easy time filter creation; custom ActiveX control providing an intelligent view of performance metrics.

Held progressively more responsible jobs at Tandem as a hardware and software design engineer:•Software Design Engineer: Supported existing optical disk process: message based, multi-threaded I/O process capable of handling a dual drive library unit with 32 cartridges. •Staff Engineer: Project leader for SCSI Digital Audio Tape (DAT): Modified SCSI controller microcode. Integration of image capture and management subsystem. Wrote C and assembler code to handle image decompression and scaling, and implement driver functions. •Engineering Manager: Established and managed a 5-person department to develop an optical disk library subsystem. Wrote product requirements and specifications. Development of new controller and microcode. Completed performance and life testing on three vendors’ optical disk library units. Developed product life cycle plan with product management representative. Extensive contact with customers and vendors to define functional and performance requirements. •Design/Project Engineer: Designed and prototyped a high speed communications controller for a future high-end processor. Wrote microcode for bring-up and design validation testing. Bring-up and test of Tandem’s first LSI tri-density tape controller. I/O channel design and test responsibilities for I/O division.
