I began my career in network integration with ACI. I gained experience in various cabling systems including Thinnet, IBM type 1 & 6, CW1308 and UTP category 5,5e & 6. I also have extensive containment experience in steel and PVC trunking systems. During this time I gained valuable experience working as a team member in a variety if environments whether it was site based within the MEP arena, commercial or industrial, fit-out, government or defence. Within these environments I gained extensive experience in liaising with customers and gaining an understanding of their requirements whilst being able to translate this into a safe working environment for my colleagues.From 2002 I returned to ACI as a senior site supervisor to take over the management at site level of the recently acquired IBM laptop and server manufacturing facility in Greenock by Sanmina-SCI, my responsibility was to retrospectively install 23,500 Systimax category 6 outlets across several manufacturing areas, open plan offices and an automated storage facility whilst maintaining full operation. In addition to the category 6 outlets I was responsible for the installation of associated backbone infrastructure which consisted of diverse fibre optic star topology to 17 TC rooms utilising Lazrspeed 550 and CW1308 voice cable from a centrally located PABX. My main duties on site were to maintain site resource levels via sub-contractors and agency labour, actively seek additional work areas through site coordination meetings with international stakeholders within the facility and IT departments. Daily and weekly site reporting to directors and internal quality controllers, control of site material through direct procurement via approved suppliers, carrying out method statements, risk assessments and to lead a proactive attitude to health and safety amongst the work force, control plant and asset management of site equipment.
