A liberal education at Great Hearts Academies and Hillsdale College has made me eager to enrich the intellectual and moral character of individuals, families, and society.Accordingly I aspire first and foremost to participate in the enriching of American education, and this in three potential ways: (1) as a teacher and then, I hope, as either (2) a school leader or (3) a legal advocate. My liberal arts education has given me the requisite philosophical vision and inner desire for this endeavor. The rigor of that education has given me the tools necessary to continue my own education and improve as a teacher, a leader, and an advocate.The class of 2020 at Great Hearts, Cicero Preparatory Academy, established in 2013, was the first graduating class. As a member of this class, my friendships, my role as a faculty elected student leader, and the difficulty of the academics taught me endurance, work ethic, and communication skills. My course work in the humanities, especially literature courses on Aristotle's Nic. Ethics, Plato's Republic, Augustine's Confessions, and Dostoevsky's Brothers Karamazov gave me a vision of what a beautiful human life looks like and the conviction that education plays an invaluable role in that pursuit. At Hillsdale College, the challenge of balancing academics, extracurriculars, career research, and friendships helped me to develop organizational and communication skills. In between academic years, I worked as a manual laborer in a Landscaping company in Phoenix, AZ and as an administrative assistant to the property management team of a commercial real estate investment trust in order to gain career experience and pay off college loans. In the spring of 2023, I participated in the Everett Oratory competition, a rigorous and time consuming extracurricular, while conducting research for a senior thesis, singing in a scholarship funded choir 9.5 – 10 hours a week, working an on-campus job, writing an article for the Hillsdale Forum, volunteering at my church, and balancing this with my relationship with my fiancée and our friends....
