-Plan and manage textbook department to consistently achieve sales goals, achieving an overall sales increase of $2.1 million; select, train, evaluate, motivate, and discipline a sales force (over 100 employees at peak operations intervals) to ensure operating competency and employee performance levels that meet or exceed standards; prepare and monitor an operating budget to attain fixed and variable cost objectives.-Actively manage all aspects of book ordering, receiving, accounts payable, and return shipments; responsible for ensuring highest level of customer service with store staff in accordance with company standards; maintain regular communication with senior management officials regarding customer feedback. -Provide active and on-call support for facility’s technology systems; accomplishments include directing the store-wide shift to PC-based management utilizing knowledge of an AS400 server in conjunction with macros programmed in Visual Basic, MS Excel, and MS Access; install hardware and troubleshoot software as needed.-Responsible for creating audio-visual presentations and documents to effectively train staff and peers. Help train new management staff at various new store locations and provide phone support for Barnes and Noble standards.

Supervised a staff of 40 (at peak) booksellers in the textbook department. Assisted in managing the staff in completionof textbook sales, returns, ordering, faculty correspondence, and interaction with the Barnes and Noble home office.

Entered the Barnes and Noble Bestseller program through which I gained experience in store operations, employee training and development, accounting, and store merchandising.
