To ensure a structured method of introduction I have been using Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.• The new facility has meant I have experience sourcing (from design to installation) new equipment, including automated pressure test equipment, robotic laser marking cells and hydraulically clamped machining fixtures. • Recent projects have included machining of titanium castings for F1 gearboxes; niche volume (40+ sets per week) manufacturing of high performance heads & blocks for a British super car manufacturer; forging and machining aluminium pistons for Aerospace engines.• I have championed Lean manufacturing principles into production cells. Including orchestrating Kaizen events. These efforts have seen significant improvements in production output and efficiency through the reduction of waste. Typical tasks include:o calculating the staffing and shift requirements to meet forecasted workloadso tact time studies and Yamazumi (Stacking Boards) to balance the work station / operator loadingo Non-Value Added (NVA) studies of the process and rearranging the cell layout to increase the efficiency of the work flow by reducing operator handling times.o investigating automation possibilities and commission capital expenditure where appropriateo Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to minimise process and quality defects • I have managed a project for the manufacture, assembly and “Break In, Pass Off” (BIPO) testing of a low volume, high performance engines for a prestige automobile manufacturer. 77 off for use in their hyper car.• I provide detailed project plans (using Microsoft Project) for both the engineering and production activities, whilst implementing risk management to facilitate the fulfillment of these plans. This was achieved by scheduling the workload through the departments and the factory as a whole.During my tenure I implemented an Internal Non-conformance System to improve the manufacturing process and reduce scrap levels. This system involved interviewing department heads and employees regarding any incident of scrap in the manufacturing process. The aim was to identify the cause of the problem and ways to prevent a reoccurrence.Duties also included processing customer orders on SAGE production software and ensuring each department was provided with the latest issue drawings, CAD files and other relevant information.I was also responsible for dealing with any issues which occurred during the manufacturing process and identifying any areas for improvement.I provided a focal point for communication between the four departments (Laminating, Machining, Trimming/Fitting and Inspection) as well as with customers.I also provided cover for department heads when necessary.As Production Manager I was responsible for providing customers with advice on how to improve their product and how best to manufacture these.The nature of my positions meant I had to work closely with all our customers, including top Formula One teams who demand a high level of quality on a very tight schedule.
