Assistant Professor of English at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. I teach courses in Modernism, the Short Story, Experimental Literature, Irish Literature, and author focused courses on James Joyce and others. Affiliate faculty in Compartive Literature. Faculty sponsor of the HWS Second Chances Program, an initiative for teaching college level, credit bearing courses in New York State prisons. Previously I have taught at Dake University in Des Moines, Iowa, Ohio University, Ithaca College, and University of California, San Diego. Studied Literature with an emphaisis in English and American Literatures at UCSD, receiving a PhD in 2005. Have published poems and essays in numerous national and international publications, and produced a critical edition of Pulitzer Pirze-winning poet George's Oppen's previously uncollected and unpublished writings, George Oppen: Selected Prose, Daybooks, and Papers (University of California Press, 2009). Currently working on the relationship of "difficult people" to "difficult texts" in UK Modernism, as well as the investments of Irish and British Modernism (literary and otherwise) in defintions of productive labor and theories of value as they intersect with nationalist, colonial, and revolutionary discourses.
