About Stephen Danton

I’m a designer that writes tons of code and absolutely loves bringing characters to life through animation. I worked at Microsoft for 12 years and left as a Principal Designer - one of 12 company-wide, at the time. Now I make video games with my wife Sara. I was also part of Microsoft Bench, a select program for the top 10% of company-wide performers. And I’m proud to have lead UX concepting and envisioning initiatives across Windows, Azure, Visual Studio and Office. I got into gaming with Windows Phone, for a time my game 'Ninja Boy' reached #1 on the phone, game or app.Mostly recently, I designed, developed, animated and did the artwork for the critically acclaimed Unto The End with my wife Sara. It was one of the most played indie games of 2020 and 2021. I have a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario. I graduated with honours. My focus was human computer interaction. My current focus is gaming and gaming related community engagement.

    During these years at Microsoft I designed groundbreaking user experiences for experimental software platforms, earning 30+ patents for a wide range of user interface and experience inventions. Most of the ideas mentioned above were realized in a product called Quadrant, which was the UI frontend for a larger project called Oslo.I'm very proud of the concepting, design and prototyping work I did in Quadrant, specifically in the areas of next generation diagramming, information spaces, information browsing, and commanding. These efforts had company wide impact, and helped influence the next generation of products from Office to Visual Studio. As a result I spent loads of time working closely with Technical Fellows (Microsoft’s highest ranking individual contributors), and executive management.
