Having completed 3 years studying Instrumentation and control at Aberdeen College I was placed offshore with Wood group to complete my apprenticeship and NVQ level 3 in Instrument maintenance. During this period I carried out routine, preventative and breakdown maintenance on all instrumentation associated with the process and safety systems. This includes but is not limited to pressure, temperature, flow and level measuring devices that interface with the Honeywell TDC 3000 DCS that operates devices such as control valves, pumps, heaters and suchlike.I also carried out maintenance activities, inhibits and isolations on the ICS fire & gas systems and also the Yokogawa ESD shutdown system.
