I have known Mr. John Lewis, the Owner of Lewis Builders for 10 years, respected his work ethics, professionalism, integrity, and commitment to community involvement during that time. We have entertained the idea of working together many times over the last 10 years, but the timing was never right. In October of 2019, John approached me with an opportunity that seemed too good to pass up. Unfortunately, timing was still working against us since I was gainfully employed with SJ Amoroso at the expansion of the Monterey County Jail in Salinas, a project that was scheduled to be completed at the end of 2019. Due to circumstances beyond our control, that did not happen (and in April of 2020....it still is not complete), but I decided that it was in my best interest to make a commitment to John that one way or another, I would be willing to join the LB team in February which I did, and am thrilled to say it was the right choice to make. I am happy to be working with Lewis Builders and excited about the future with this excellent local company!

Salinas, California Area

Currently working on the Monterey County Jail Housing expansion. $70,000,000 project including lots of concrete and steel. This project was a dream for the MC Sheriff's for the last (20) years. Bulk of the project was precast concrete from a plant in Wasco. Approximately (378) semi truck loads came in with the oversized loads requiring no less than (3) separate permits to get here - (1) from Wasco, (1) from CHP, and (1) from Salinas PD. The walls were cast full height - 50' tall, 10' wide, 10" thick and weighing upwards of 50,000 # APIECE! The cells came in cast as (2) cells joined together, fully equipped with beds (steel and concrete), toilets, etc. and fully painted ready to be craned into place like big Lego blocks weighing over 60,000 #. Pretty crazy! Anyway, we are getting close to completion and almost ready for the (576) inmates to come into their new home. One serendipitous part is that my Dad started his medical career in 1953 at Natividad Medical Center staying in one of the doctor cottages that used to be on the very spot where I am building this project now, and from my job site trailer, I can see Mount Toro where I stomped around as a young kid. Nice to be back home and out of that (111) degree heat in Turlock!

Turlock, California - Cal State University Stanislaus

$50,000,000 student housing project for CSU Stanislaus - (3) four story student housing buildings with an additional community building with a pool, work out room, and hang zone on approximately (8) acres of lovely property across from the university in a residential zone....Curious and often difficult neighbors. Lots of rain day (55) and (80) days in a row of over (100) degree heat! We were happy when it went down to (90)! YIKES. Finished on time and on budget. Good thing what with LDs of $35,000 per day....You better get that thing done!

$70,000,000 student housing project completed in 2016. (3) four story buildings for (600) students on (10) acres of sand at the old Fort Ord property in Marina, CA. Located on beautiful property overlooking the ocean with views of the Santa Cruz mountains across the bay, Mount Toro and Fremont's Peak to the south.
