I am an AV-rated labor and employment lawyer. From 1985 until 2008, I was a labor and employment lawyer primarily representing unions. In September 2008, I closed my private practice and became the legal director of the ACLU of Kansas & Western Missouri. At the same time, I started working as a part-time labor arbitrator. In May 2018, I became a full-time neutral after retiring from the ACLU. I have been on the labor arbitration roster of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service since November 2009 and have been on the National Mediation Board's roster of arbitrators since October 2016. I am also on the state arbitration boards in Kansas, Montana, and Washington. I serve as a labor arbitrator on the following permanent panels: Ameren Illinois/IBEW 51; AT&T Mobility/CWA District 7; National Electrical Contractors Association-Kansas City/IBEW Local 124; Southwest Airlines/IAMAW Air Transport Lodge 142; and U.S. Postal Service & Postal Mail Handlers Union. I earned my Missouri Rule 17 certification as a mediator in March 2013 and completed training for domestic relations mediations in March of 2018.
