About Stephen Downey
I am a Senior FPGA Engineer with an interest in Digital Signal Processing Design, Embedded Software development, Sensors, and overall Hardware development.I started my career with hardware and system development for Black Forest Engineering where I developed test and demonstration systems for new imaging sensors on custom ASICs. In this role I developed boards, FPGAs, and software for these demonstration units and worked closely with our customers. I then joined Sandia National Labs to develop telemetry units. I expanded my experience working with FPGAs to include multi-FPGA simulations, signal processing algorithm development, and RF telemetry operations. LGS/CACI was an opportunity to build on my FPGA design experience and expand to Digital Signal Processing for Radio Communications. While working at LGS/CACI I have worked with Xilinx SoC’s and RFSoC’s, developed channel and multi-rate sampling filters, worked with PCIe, Aurora, JESD204, and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, and work with a team of engineers to quote timeline and costs for new bids.
