Elected in 2015 to serve as an at-Large councilman in my hometown. Currently am Vice Chair of the Finance Committee, Chair of Public Safety and sit on the Parks and Recreation Committee. Was honored to have received the most votes of any at-large council member in Green history.

Led work around bipartisan solutions to education funding challenges in Ohio, especially around the idea of quality educational opportunities for all children. Led primary research and analysis into how to better deliver educational services and programming to every child in the state, regardless of where they go to school. Has become a leading voice on educational opportunities for Ohio's kids. Brought together divergent constituencies to develop broad-based solutions to Ohio's charter school and other education reform challenges.

I was honored by the Confucius Institute to join an American delegation of Education Policy Leaders to China in June 2014 to observe educational environments in Shanghai and Beijing. Observed several schools and classrooms during the visit, learning that great learning looks very similar, regardless of culture.

I reported on many different topics and won several awards. I was nominated with two of my colleagues for the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for a serious of stories we did about the 2002 election where we asked politicians and the public (through polling) questions about the direction of Ohio. Guess who was more in touch with reality? I still miss all my colleagues at 44 E. Exchange.
