Dr. Stephen R. Eaves serves as Dean of the College of Music and Performing Arts and Professor of Music at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. He leads 180 faculty/staff and over 900 students in a creative community of music, theatre and dance. Eaves guides a dynamic and vibrant college committed to relevant training and learning through exceptional experiences in the Arts. The college boasts one of the largest student enrollment for music & performing arts in the country. Our exceptional mentors, artists, and teachers bring to life distinctive programs within a world-class university setting at Belmont University. We are Christ-centered and students focused.Leadership experiences include creating a vision for developing and implementing relevant learning and training experiences that support a wide array of career paths and artistic expressions for all to flourish through the inspiring power of music and the performing arts. He leads and collaborates with all stakeholders to sustain a foundation of excellent while developing broad connections to creative opportunities with the aim to develop leaders in the Arts. Working together with faculty, staff and students he has helped create dozens of successful partnerships and collaborations that benefit students, the university and community to flourish. He is committed to impactful and inspiring music and performing arts that uplifts hope, beauty and goodness beyond the concert hall and the stage. He brings to the position over 25 years of teaching, performing and administrative experiences. Dr. Eaves has served as an Arts leader at Friends University (KS); faculty/Director of Choral Activities at Henderson State University (AR); department administrator and Director of Choral Activities at McMurry University (TX) and Roane State College (TN).Dr. Eaves' choral ensembles have been invited to perform for national and international audiences. Collaborations with professional orchestras in 6 states, national tours and concerts in Germany, Austria, and Great Britain are some of his performance credits. He has also conducted clinics, honor choirs and adjudicated choirs in 8 states.Dr. Eaves earned degrees in music education and conducting from Union University, the University of Mississippi and the University of South Carolina. He is an active member of several professional organizations and nonprofit Arts boards.
