Second change of contractor at same location. Position was to operate and maintain two satellite tracking stations supporting a variety of military and civilian satellite programs mainly for the United States Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) as part of a worldwide network. These included classified programs, secure communications programs (UK and US) as well as GPS and relay systems. Maintenance included all subsystems from front-end to onward transmission to the end user and included a secure voice system.One of the first technicians to transition to the ARTS (Advanced Remote Tracking Station) from the older, manually configured station, this included some integration testing, software installation and update training.Operation and maintenance of a State of the Art Medium Terminal (SAMT) SatCom terminal involving the monitoring of input and output data multiplexing, demultiplexing and characterisation of data links for external users. I was also a cryptographic material custodian responsible for the security of cryptographic material and the loading and updating of cryptographic keying material. Authorised deputy to the shift leader with responsibility for the whole station outside normal working hours, responsible for delivering daily operations and maintenance briefings to station management and external liaison officers both military (UK and USAF) and civilian. I also took responsibility for the supervision and monitoring of on-the-job training for newer personnel.
