I have been involved in the scrap metal industry all my life. As a child i worked and learned from my father all aspects of the industry, from cutting with a torch to sorting non ferrous metals. My father owned and operated several scrap metal yards, Including Brewer Junk, Bangor Metals, Calais Metals, Leeds Metals, Growing up in these yards I also learned every aspect of processing and up grading metals. I also learned how to safely dismantle all types of scrap metal and heavy machinery, including paper mill machinery. As a young adult I continued working in the scarp metal industry while going to school at the University of Maine at Farmington. After college I worked for a number of scrap metal yards Including Harding Metals, NEMR, Grimmel Industries, Windfield Alloys, to name a few. I also did Jobs on my own Including Cleaning up an abandon Junkyard, The old "Tomborello" scrap yard located in Lawrence mass. Where I cleaned up and processed about 7000 tons of ferrous and 500 tons of non ferrous. In June of 2008 I started working as a subcontractor for Schnitzer steel at their Auburn Maine facility where for the last 5 years i have processed all of their unprepared and irony stainless steel, I have also processed many other non ferrous alloys as well as cutting or burning ferrous. I have worked and done many outside jobs for Schnitzer's as well, Including dismantling stainless steel dryer tanks at New Page Paper Mill, dismantling concrete crushers and other heavy equipment at General Aggregate facility's, I also had the opportunity to dismantle a 980,000lbs Transformer as well as a 90 ton turbine runner at First Light and Power at North Field Mountain. In the last 4 years I have also dismantled and processed over 30 locomotives and 300 box cars, and worked on 2 derailments with Pan Am Railways through Francesco demolition.
