My diverse background, education, and life experience offer a unique perspective to problem solving. As an educator I have taught vertically from the primary, middle, and secondary grade levels. Being in a large district such as Newark has allowed me to take full advantage of the many opportunities that smaller districts just don't have the need for.I have taken advantage of extensive training in whole school reform, curriculum writing, assessment writing, distance learning, written post September 11 security and lock-down procedures, supervised the construction of the technology infrastructure of a new "Magnet" school ( American History High School), served on district recruiting and hiring committees, coached a winning Middle School Debate team and a High School Technology team (in it's second year of existence), traveled to Massachusetts and Canada to evaluate school reform models, and served as a grant compliance consultant to the National Park Service and Verizon Distance Learning. My background in Fortune 500, law enforcement training, and Coast Guard engineering schools along with my extensive experience in education have given me problem solving skills that span a very broad spectrum.
