Stephen leads Day Design Pty Ltd, which is a growing consultancy in the niche acoustic industry.Stephen's approachability and ability to communicate with industry professionals, tradesmen and building owners is key to his success.Day Design prepares acoustic reports for submission to local Council, the NSW Environment Protection Authority and other Government bodies.Our reports include Environmental Noise Assessments, assessment of Compensation Court claims for hearing loss, mechanical services acoustic designAcoustic Assessments to meet the Building Code of Australia.Stephen regularly provides expert acoustic evidence in the Land and Environment Court if NSW for applicants and respondents in a variety of matters. Examples of past matters over the last 15 years have included poultry farms, licensed premises, child care centres, public places of worship, residential developments, waste transfer stations and compulsory acquisition by RMS. Day Design conducted acoustic testing at the National Acoustic Laboratories for 4 years which concluded in December 2012. Data was generated for a variety of materials to determine the Sound Transmission Loss and Sound absorption in accordance with International and Australian Standards. A variety of machines such as air conditioner units were measured to determine the sound power level. The insertion loss provided by acoustic attenuators was also determined using the silenced wind tunnel.From September 2018 Day Design has access to a dedicated site testing facility used to conduct floor impact sound insulation testing including ceiling modifications, and waste water pipe testing including lagging.
