• Headed catalyst production for the NASA Carbon Formation Reactor (CFR) project.• Tested a variety of process conditions in a subscale CFR to optimize carbon growth -Identified ideal gas composition, temperature, and pressure for increased carbon growth -Identified paths forward to reduce consumables mass for long-duration manned missions• Initiated carbon activation efforts to modify carbon produced by the CFR for in situ adsorption of several impurities -Completed literature review and identified possible activation methods through scholarly articles -Modified existing processes to account for differences in CFR carbon versus biomass-derived carbon feedstock
