Manager Of Design Drafting
OVERVIEW: The responsibilities of the Design Drafting Manager is to manage the Design drafting group in preparing 2D and 3D fabrication and assembly documents used in the construction of Fired Heaters. I provide direction in software use and optimization, oversee and implement process improvements, review and suggest design improvements and set department priorities. Responsibilities include scheduling manpower to meet customer and production requirements, coordination of internal/external resources to complete projects, review manpower needs and the quality and accuracy of the deliverables produced by the drafting/design group.KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:• Provide overall direction and planning of all computer applications in use in the department• Provide supervision and mentoring to staff including instructions, training, and coaching• Originate and implement procedures, policies and standards• Delegate work assignments, and set priorities• Conduct design review/production meetings• Attend sales meeting and develop manpower loading• Provide manpower estimates for proposals• Provide technical support and guidance on projects.• Streamline processes to ensure projects are done on time and within budgeted man-hours.• Monitor, control and approve work schedules and man-hours• Review work ensuring compliance to specifications, customer specifications, and Fired Heater Division standard practices.• Evaluate current teams talent and outline immediate needs; recruit and maintain a skilled resource pool within group to meet the needs of the company• Represent design department at staff level meetings
