Most recent experience has been with Tyrone Hospital, where, as CEO, I successfully developed and implemented a plan to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The hospital was within one or two months of closing, but a strategy of improving quality first, so that the patient volume and subsequent revenue would increase, was successful. This quality strategy involved recruiting new, highly regarded physicians, new nursing leadership, setting quality targets that positioned the hospital as a top performer, and recruiting a new senior management team. The resulting increase in patient revenue along with recent Revenue Cycle process improvement efforts has now positioned the hospital to be profitable going forward. The surrounding community is once again confident in the care provided at Tyrone Hospital. Regaining community confidence is a critical element that most hospitals fail to execute when they emerge from bankruptcy protection .
