Over the years, I have managed various operations and gained extensive experience in the solid-wood industry. I've worked my way through roles in site management, dry-mill processing, kilns, timber grading, manufacturing, and continuous improvement.Currently, I focus on training and skill development for our Port operations teams across the South Island.Before the recent restructuring in July 2023, I spent 10 years in the Health, Safety, and Compliance sector. I developed the full infrastructure for governance, worker engagement, compliance, and monitoring protocols, and I wrote and implemented policies and procedures. Our efforts earned a Safe Plus accreditation (Performing) on the first attempt.I enjoy the proactive side of Health and Safety, valuing human performance equally with compliance. Compliance is essential, but my experience with Safe Plus showed me the significant impact of worker input on workplace culture. Genuine worker involvement leads to a more positive and effective work environment, despite initial resistance from management.I've managed multiple companies and teams, emphasizing inclusivity, targeted outcomes, and sustainable change. I also worked as a Lean site facilitator for five years, underscoring the importance of aligning business goals with values and understanding the holistic consequences of decisions.While I'm unsure of my next steps, I'm interested in new challenges and making a meaningful impact.
