I was elected in 2017 and 2019 to serve as member of the executive committee overseeing the work of the society. I have also authored several articles for the society's website and the Fabian Review, particularly on issues in health policy and Northern Ireland.

Worked alongside Bolivian final year medical year students, Internos, staffing clinics and acute services out of hours. The elective was conducted exclusively through Spanish and was focused on obstetrics. A project for the local NGO South Group was completed which investigated attitudes and knowledge of adolescents towards sexual health.

Galway

A chart review was conducted documenting all treatments and investigations received by women diagnosed with breast cancer, over two 2-year periods, 1995-96 and 2005-06. By analysing this data we were able to chart trends in the changing economic burden of breast cancer in the Republic of Ireland. The project was supervised by Prof Michael Kerin (Dept of Surgery) and funded by the National Cancer Institute, Ireland.

Using a Dunn chamber we studied the chemotaxis of vascular smooth muscle cells to different concentrations of Angiotensin II and glucose. As well as working with Dunn chamber and serial image capture and chemotaxis analysis software, I also acquired experience in techniques of tissue culture, ELISA and western blot.
