After leaving high school I served my apprenticeship as a motor mechanic at a local well respected garage while attending college one day per week in order to gain my Level 3 SVQ in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Light Vehicles).I continued to work as a qualified mechanic until 2012 when I decided to change my career. Since then I have worked and gained valuable experience in the railway industry with my various roles being predominantly in the safety critical and planning side of things such as a points operator, IWA, COSS, Site Coordinator and SSOW Planner.During this time I have worked on several different rail projects such as the Glasgow South Suburban Resignalling (GSSR), H2I (Haymarket to Inverkeithing), EGIP (Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Programme) and SDA (Stirling, Dunblane, Alloa Electrification).I have also spent time (approx 3 years) working on the new Caledonian Sleeper MKV trains where I carried out a technical supporting role as a Tech Rider while the train was in service and also being based as a Depot Coordinator at Fort William.Currently I work as a Safe System of Work Planner for C&G Systems.
