Currently acting as a domestic gas engineer for South Lanarkshire Council, a company I had previously sub-contracted to when running my own company. I am responsible for the maintenance of a wide number of different boilers and heating systems, carrying out electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and system faults as well as carrying out safety inspections and keeping all relevant paperwork up to date. I am responsible for the supervision of apprentice engineers and assist with their training to ensure they stay within gas safe policy and procedures and work to a high standardHeating and Plumbing S.O.S Director Aug 06-Jan 2010During my time running a plumbing and heating company I was responsible for all administration, accounting and business development. As well as running the company I was responsible for all installation and maintenance work including project managing large jobs for letting agencies, property developers and estate agents. I ensured my sub-contractors work to an impeccable standard and liaise with customers to ensure we exceeded their expectations. I also had maintenance contracts with Scottish Gas and South Lanarkshire Council where I would carry out work on their behalf to their high standards and comply with all relevant health and safety regulations

I was involved in installing central heating systems throughout Scotland as part of the government funded initiative for the over 60`s on behalf of Scottish Gas. Different installation designs were met each day and I had to carry out risk assessments and work together with other trades to ensure a high quality finish with minimum delay.

I was working throughout the UK often staying away from home on various British Gas sites. My duties involved installing full central heating systems as part of a team and also maintenance work where I would be called to repair numerous types of faults on gas systems. I was involved in surveying jobs and planning pipe work runs and system designs and identifying material or any specialist equipment required to carry out that job safely.

I served my time as an apprentice, gaining my svq level 3 plumbing and my gas qualifications. I was involved in all duties as a plumber from installing bathroom suites to isolating and repairing burst pipe work. I was involved in new house builds on a building site, which involved working from plans and meetings with site agent and clerk of works to ensure targets and deadlines were being met. I was also involved in the installation, service and repair of gas central heating systems often working together with other trades or engineers.
