In my free time I am working towards the academic publication of my MSc thesis, which looks to move Degrowth economics towards a viable conception of pharmaceutical R&D. This project is in collaboration with Professor Daniel O'Neill; Professor of Ecological Economics at the University of Barcelona and President of the European Society for Ecological Economics.

An editorial and journalism internship on the news desk at the online sustainability publication Impakter. I spent time working alongside the wider editorial team, helping produce and edit news articles broadly related to sustainability issues in the news cycle. I undertook an exciting paid position to assist in a research project exploring assumptions of justice in the low-carbon transition, alongside finalising my MSc studies:Building on work relating to the Political Ecology of resource extraction in Sub-Saharan Africa, the project will assess ESG initiatives and supply chain transparency/accountability of junior mining firms listed on the LSE AIM and FTSE markets, exploring for critical and strategic minerals.Responsibilities include: Narrowing down the sample size based on thematic analysis of AIM and FTSE listed junior mining firms, production of an infographic based on findings, exploration of ESG performance of the identified sample, deep dive into relevant case studies and assistance in production of a related policy brief.

As a full time MSc Ecological Economics student I gained solid grounding in the main concepts and tools of a growing transdisiplinary field concerned with understanding and managing the environemtnal and social dimensions of economic activity. Having developed a particular interest in economic, social and environmental justice, my dissertation thesis used a mixed methods approach in an attempt to move Degrowth economics towards a viable conception of pharmaceutical R&D with specific reference to Neglected Tropical Diseases; a subset of diseases mainly affecting populations in the global south, where economic incentives and market forces have largely failed to drive funding into the development of much needed treatments and medicines.
