Chief Technology OfficerSimbol Materials 2008 - 2015Stephen joined Simbol soon after it received venture backed funding from Mohr-Davidow and Firelake Capital. He led its scientific and engineering teams through a rapid process development, taking less than one year to develop the process to extract lithium from geothermal brine to a pilot scale proof of concept. In addition, his team developed new processes for the extraction of manganese, zinc and potassium from those same geothermal brines. That development program led to the filing of a family of patents. Today Simbol has 15 allowed US patents and 23 US patent applications. From a commercial point of view, the process he and his team developed is recognized as the lowest cost production method to lithium hydroxide, a key feedstock for lithium ion batteries.• Led Simbol’s technology team through the research and development phases of its process development for lithium, manganese and zinc extraction and their conversion to products• Included laboratory scale studies, scale-up to a 1/1000th scale pilot plant for lithium extraction; and proof of process to produce lithium carbonate inside 12 months• Developed SIMBOL’s IP Strategy and managed its IP portfolio of greater than 50 + patents• Reported to the board and the CEO on all aspects of technology • Developed a dynamic R&D culture leading to rapid process development combining scientist and engineers from diverse backgrounds in a start-up environment• Co-ordination of the detailed engineering and design/FEED package development for the 17.000 MTY lithium hydroxide to 38.000 MTY including lithium carbonate production. T(ncludes a 60.000 and 120.000 ton /a chlorine plant (a $ 450 million project)• Processes developed specially to obtain extra high pure battery grade LiOH and Li2CO3• Invention and development of a novel sorbents for the extraction of lithium chloride• Principle Investigator for the Critical Materials Institute: lithium project

Vice President Of TechnologyApplied Intellectual Capital (Aic, Formerly Eda) May 2002 - Nov 2008Technical and management of key projects of a technology innovation incubator. AIC invented and incubated new technologies and processes and developed them until ready for external funding through either licensing or the generation of start-up spin-off’s. Stephen lead the technology development during the technology transfer to the spin-off company’s.Plurion: A utlilty scale energy storage battery based on the cerium-zinc couple. Stephen joined AIC (then EDA) to lead its Plurion Battery project eventually acting as Plurion’s Chief Technology Officer(CTO) as it set up new facilities in Fife Scotland. He lead a multidisciplinary team including teams from LOTUS engineering and NORAM engineers as well as AIC’s and Plurion’s technical teams. Managed relationships with key suppliers and equipment manufacturers. The project combined chemistry, electrochemical and chemical engineering with electrical engineering to link the battery to the electrical grid. Stephen was responsible for all aspect of the technical program including: budgets, planning and technical leadership. Water TreatmentProject LeadershipCo-inventor and technology leader of new technologies to recovery and destroy perchlorate and nitrate in drinking water, combining ion-exchange and electrochemistry. Lead projects to demonstrate and pilot these technologies at the Baldwin Park Operable Unit (Los Angeles, CA), including the engineering and design and the operation of a skid mounted unit the proved the technical viability of these technologies. Leading to licensing of the nitrate technology to Rohm-Haas. Responsible for the development the technologies, and manging the planning and execution of the projects.

Executive Vice President Production & DevelopmentLimtech 1998 - 2002This company was formed to produce high purity lithium carbonate. It was a spin-off from a project to produce lithium metal while Dr. Harrison was at Hydro-Quebec. Stephen managed the initial project while at Hydro-Quebec and was the co-inventor of the technology and was responsible for the scale-up of the technology from the laboratory through to commercial operation and even some of the early sales to Japanese trading company Marubeni. This involved leading the design in collaboration BPR-Geniviel a Quebec based engineering company to construct a commercial facility and increase the capacity the initial pilot plant to a full commercial plant of capacity of approximately 400 tonnes per year. The plant operated in Shawinigan Quebec for over ten years until its acquisition by Simbol Materials. During the companies start-up phase Dr. Harrison was responsible for its operation, quality control and had P&L responsibilities from 1999 through to his departure to AIC. He was also responsible for all R&D. Limtech received a grant from the Canadian government to support it’s R&D efforts. Dr. Harrison was responsible for this R&D project . Limtech also had an ongoing project in collaboration with Phostech to produce lithium iron phosphate After Stephen left for AIC he retained his role as being responsible for technology but not production for a two more years. Leading projects to produce lithium dihydrogen phosphate and lithium niobate. Highlights• Developed and commercialized a patented lithium carbonate manufacturing process• Creation of successful operating team and management systems for lithium carbonate plant • Management of the design and construction of a commercial lithium carbonate plant• Made the first commercial sale of the Limtech product to a Japanese trading hfirm
