I work as a Commercial Lead for the Projects and Partnering Team at Department for Business and Trade. I am based in the Cardiff office as part of a wider DBT Commercial team that operates from sites all across the UK. I am also part of the UK Government Commercial Organisation.Previously I worked as a Strategic Sourcing Manager for The Royal Mint. I helped lead the organisation's Responsible Sourcing initiative by producing its first Responsible Sourcing Policy, sustainable procurement strategy and supporting practices. I also developed and delivered a selection of category strategies and high value tenders for areas including packaging and marketing. Earlier in my career, I led the Transformational Procurement team within NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership's Procurement Services. I developed NHS Wales’ use of procurement and local expenditure as mechanisms for improving economic, social, and environmental prosperity across Wales. Prior to leading the Transformation team, I spent 5 years working in Companies House within NHS Wales' Strategic Sourcing function. In my role as a Senior Category Manager, I oversaw a team of procurement professionals working on high value All Wales contracts.I was Vice Chair of NWSSP’s Sustainable Development Group from 2018-2022. During my time with the Group we won awards from Procurex Wales, where we received the Procurement Leadership of the Year GO Award in 2020, and the Health Care Supply Association’s Supply Chain Initiative 2019 Award for the development of innovative policy in the form of our Sustainable Procurement Code of Practice.Following my success at the HCSA Procurement Development Programme in 2018, where I was deemed the overall winner in a contest for approximately 40 procurement professionals, I spent the following year as the HCSA's first honorary member of the Board of Trustees.In 2020, I was a key contributor in NHS Wales' Decarbonisation Strategic Delivery Plan. This widely acclaimed and published strategy included a significant focus on how NHS Wales’ procurement function will decarbonise its supply chain activities across the subsequent 10 years. The strategy was unveiled by Welsh Government's Minister for Health in 2021.I have an MSc in Strategic Procurement Management from the University of South Wales. My dissertation consisted of a qualitative case study investigating sustainable and resilient public health procurement in Wales, and through this work I developed a theoretical framework for sustainable and resilient public sector supply chains.
