Mechanical Engineer
I began working in Thompson's as a graduate in July of 2018. I began in the Certification department, and was there for 8 months. During that time, I gained extensive knowledge of the extensive certification requirements involved in the aircraft seating industry. I was involved with compiling test plans and reports, as well as numerous other technical documents that are required. I regularly travelled to multiple sites across Europe to perform dynamic testing on the seats. This has given me both hands on experience, as well as a thorough understanding of the safety requirements within the aerospace industry.I then was accepted for a role within the Aftermarket Engineering department. My role here is quite varied, but has given me a very holistic understanding of the various aspects of the business. My role has involved the following:- Design and developing complex engineering solutions to in-service problems- Liaising with high profile customers- Compilation of extensive technical documentation- Conforming to rigorous aerospace design standards- Conducting design reviews, presenting them to a panel of Senior Engineers- Designing, assembling and testing prototype designs to ensure correct function
