Board Director with responsibility for Finance and the Salesforce/Financialforce ERP platform for the whole of Methods Group, a fast growing IT Consultancy, Cloud, Data Analytics and Professional Services group.

A short term assignment to improve the morale, efficiency, service and productivity of the UK Order to Cash team, including ensuring Sarbanes Oxley compliance is maintained at all times.

I reported to the UK CFO and the Global Managed Services CFO, and was accountable to the CEOs for Managed Services and BPO. I was responsible for the end to end financial management of the business from bid development to operational delivery. Key achievements:• increased underlying profitability by 1.4% of revenue through restructuring, offshoring and supplier renegotiation • halved losses on poor performing contracts through commercial re-negotiation and continual focus on reduction of cost over-runs• achieved best financial performance in the Atos group • negotiated a ground-breaking deal with a leading supplier of automation tooling which will enable 80% automation of Level 1 and Level 2 incident management in the Public Sector contracts (an annualised saving of £2m per annum)• restructured the finance team to ensure closer relationships between Operations and Finance at a lower overall cost• reformed the forecasting and reporting processes to provide more meaningful business information more quickly

Canopy is a new multinational start-up company formed as a joint venture (JV) with €40m initial equity invested by Atos, EMC and VMWare. The JV was tasked with taking the shareholders into the Cloud market providing enterprise applications and infrastructure on demand. As CFO• I established a group of 5 companies in the UK, Europe, America and Asia including incorporation, and setting up banking and payroll. • designed and implemented new systems and processes, and commercial models, obtained asset financing, and managed and controlled all capital investment and R&D spend. The business model and structure was new to Atos and the role required continuous innovation and a flexible approach in order to find solutions to problems that had not been encountered before or anticipated in the original business plan, alongside coaching a management team who were mostly new to the company.

The Public sector comprised 40 Central Government and NHS clients. As CFO, I was the deputy of the Managing Director for the Sector responsible for delivering the P&L, Cash and Sales targets. My team consisted of Commercial Managers providing support to existing accounts, Business Case Managers responsible for developing the commercial proposition of new business and Contract Accountants responsible for the P&L on existing contracts. My role was to review and structure all new business proposals, identify and help resolve problem contracts, lead the budget and target-setting process, set in place the systems and processes needed to deliver targets, and lead on acquisitions and specific business development propositions. Key achievements: • negotiated the contract in key new market for the sector• structured new risk-reward offering to Government department to provide new services to the taxpayer at no cost to the department

The Private Sector comprised 200 clients delivering the full range of Atos’s services. A large proportion of the sector comprised companies in the Rail Industry. Key achievements:• implemented a programme of reviewing service delivery against contracts in order to identify additional billing opportunities generating £7m extra revenue and profit in the first year• led an acquisition of a key ticketing kiosk provider• re-negotiated an existing long term contract to bring payment structure in line with the investment requirements, generating an additional £4m of cash in year• reduced overdue debt from 25% of total debt to below 10%• designed and managed a UK-wide programme to ensure Profit Improvement Plans were in place for all major accounts and delivery units that delivered a 2% increase in profitability • led in developing the commercial proposition for new rail management and retailing products • initiated and led the implementation of a reporting and online forecasting tool (Business Objects and BPC) for the UK. The tool is now implemented throughout the Atos Group• defined how finance would support the business in the new UK organisation for which we received the CIMA award for Private Finance Sector Team of the Year award• recruited and developed a new team and processes focussed solely on Commercial and Contract management which drove substantial P&L improvement
