I am a Physical Oceanographer and I work as a coastal scientist at the Waikato Regional Council, New Zealand. I am responsible for supplying scientific information and oceanographic monitoring data to support the sustainable management of the Waikato Regions coastline. The Waikato Regions coastline is diverse including the Coromandel Peninsula, the Hauraki Gulf and the West Coast and stretches from mean high water to 12nm offshore including both the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea. Consequently I work in a wide range of interesting shallow sea environments including estuaries, beaches and shelf seas ranging from the intertidal zone to 500m deep. I also have a wide range prior experience in marine science, through research and consultancy for Government, NGOs and commercial clients throughout the world.
