Dedication and motivation were evident after achieving a 92.2% average result in 14 written ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) examinations, in 6 months.Conducting solo flights, the ability to communicate effectively, and follow instructions precisely, were of great importance, whilst continuing safe control of the aircraft and maintaining situational awareness. The ability to make decisions quickly and accurately was required for emergency situations, so forward planning was essential for safe conduct of the flight.As training became more technical, I had to liaise with many different people to organise a flight. This often required negotiations, so that the flight could be carried out as closely as I had planned, yet suit everyone involved. Time management became critical in order to meet the negotiated slots.In the latter stages of training, emphasis became focused on working as a team. The ability to discuss solutions to problems, and express my own ideas confidently, was fundamental to the success of this stage. I quickly developed leadership skills, which may be incorporated into many different roles.
