In my most recent role managing EDC's Loan Sales and Syndications Desk and Special Risks Team, I was responsible for overseeing the execution of risk management strategies involving: i) the sale and hedging (using CDS and insurance) of various financial assets in the secondary market (loans, trade claims, equity, warrants, etc.), ii) the sell down of EDC’s exposure on newly underwritten loans in the primary market, iii) the acquisition of facultative and treaty reinsurance to mitigate risk in EDC’s credit insurance, bonding and political risk insurance portfolios, and iv) the restructuring of distressed loans in EDC’s impaired portfolio. This position involved leading a team of 10 experienced professionals and having considerable delegated authority to approve loan sales, insurance policies, premium payments, impaired loan provisioning and write-offs.
