Synthesis of pheromones

I was a proactive laboratory manager and synthesised novel inositol phosphate tools in the area of Chemical Biology. I led the synthesis of inositol adenophostin, now the most potent Ca2+ mobilising compound at the inositol trisphosphate (Ins(1,4,5)P3 receptor. I supervised two postdoctoral research workers and a D.Phil student, then published a further three scientific papers. Throughout my time I maintained a high standard of safety in the laboratory.

Benzene and biphenyl phosphates were synthesised during my time at the University of Bath, as well as many inositol phosphate derivatives. This includes 19 papers, including an extensive review on inositol synthesis. A number of key molecules co-crystallised with a several proteins in X-ray crystal structures, including SHIP2, type II 5-phosphatase, the PH-domain of protein kinase B-alpha.I also engaged with collaborators to evaluate a number of biphenyl hexakisphosphate molecules (messenger paper 2012), which were found to be Ins(1,4,5)P3 receptor agonists and antagonists.

I taught chemistry at School approx 1.5 years. One of my sixth form Chemistry students came to the University of Bath to read Chemistry.

Synthesised many compounds and published ten papers and notes.
