Time served joiner with over 25 years experience,touching all aspects of construction as well as my chosen trade.When my apprenticeship was complete I worked self employed as a sub contractor on a variety of projects from renovation work in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, to timber frame kit houses,to high class finishing work to the then new West Stand at Stamford Bridge.In 2008 I worked with a local family firm erecting kit houses when the recession forced various sites,including ours, to close.At this point in my career I decided that,for myself and my family,a full time role within a company was the way ahead.This eventually resulted in a slight change in direction for me steering me away from the building sites I was used to,but I knew I would learn from new environments ,and pass on some experience and knowledge at the same time.Jan 2009 -Oct 2011Started as Site Supervisor at New Lanark World Heritage Village.My role included planning, pricing and actively working with the maintenance team, carrying out general and routine maintenance and repairs in the housing dept as well as New Lanark Mill Hotel and tourist attractions on siteOct 2011 -March 2017With an interest in renewable energy I started fitting solar pv rooftop arrays with Renewable Resources,who are now Lightsource.Both domestic and larger scale commercial projects being undertaken.March 2017 -August 2018Worked on a self employed basis short term on various small joinery projects,before securing a full time position as a preservation joiner with Peter Cox preservation specialists. While working here I was trained and carried out a range of structural preservation work including. concrete lintel replacement .mechanical,and chemical D.P.C and D.P.M installs.render application of waterproof internal wall finish.epoxy resin repairs/jointing of structural roof timbers.finishing joinery to complete above works.August 2018 - Nov 2022Started full time with The Belac Group where I was joiner in a Local Authority Maintenance contract which also allowed me to get involved and learn some basic plumbing ,plastering etc. alongside carrying out my own trade.Currently I am sole joiner on a Utilities contract,working alongside a plumber. My work involves both internal to expose mains water stop tap within kitchen and make good after plumbing works. Externally I fitted insulated 'Insaducts' which contain new alkathene water supply entering house above ground level.Nov 2023 - PresentAssistant Site Manager at Burgess Homes ltd
