I was contracted as a HSE/ Hazmat Manager for the cleaning and coating of oil pipelines for Aramco in Saudi Arabia. My duties consisted of handling all hazardous waste on the receiving end in the GOSP. I was the safety officer and in charge of the fire watch. My permit receive course has been done through Aramco where I was in charge of managing the receiving end in the GOSP throughout the cleaning and coating of the pipelines. I was team supervisor along the pipeline to remove and replace flanges and T pieces and was engaged with the rigging. I was responsible for all Hazardous spillages. I was in charge of all skilled and unskilled labour with their instruction and safety.

I was Hazmat Manager. My duties consisted of responding to Hazardous spills onshore and offshore. Managing all spill response equipment. I did training in the preventing of oil spills. I marketed oil absorbent products, bioremediation of contaminated land, responding to accidents such as oil spills. I also did tank cleaning and confined space entry. I was in charge of training and managing the staff, assessment of client’s risks and identifying oil spill equipment and absorbents needed. I arranged where necessary the disposal of Hazardous waste and identified the correct needed protocol. I maintained up to date MSDS on all products. I was involved in the sampling of oil contamination and the assessment of volumes of contamination. I helped identify causes of oil spills and implement appropriate measures to safely restore the contaminated area/s.

I was the owner of SCT for 6 years. SCT was a Hazmat Response Company and was involved with all HSE duties. As owner of SCT I gained all the work experience in the Hazmat industry. I had my own absorbent and spill equipment agency.

I was the Hazmat manager and founded the oil spill response team, established a sales and marketing department of oil absorbents and equipment. Trained staff, oversaw sales target and managed budgets.Practical Work ExperienceIn 2000, my company was responsible for the oil spill clean – up in Cape Town, South Africa: Treasure (vessel) for both the onshore and offshore contamination. Client: South African Department of Environmental Affairs.Crude oil tank cleaning for Chevron refinery in Cape Town and for oil spillages in and around the refinery.I have been contracted by Freight Dynamix and Tanker Services for many road oil tanker accidents and the clean – up. I supplied port pollution control in Cape Town with all their oil spill products and was contracted in deploying containment booms, oil skimmers and applying absorbents.Contracted by the South African Navy to combat their oil spills, removal of the hazardous waste, spill training, supply of absorbents and spill equipment.Contracted to BP for bioremediation of diesel spillage in Zambia when one of their Tankers spilled 40 000 lt of Diesel.Cleaning of oily water separation pits for numerous companies.Contracted by Transnet (SA Railway) for the bioremediation of ballast, refueling depot and other oil spill incidents.; Before being involved with the Hazmat industry I worked as an electrician and in the general maintenance industry.I also have experience in the fishing industry as second mate on a Tuna vessel where I gained knowledge in skippering vessels.
