The Geothermal System Designer plays a critical role as the liaison between sales and operations by qualifying projects and developing a project plan that ensures a successful installation.The design process involves a number of critical steps including but not limited to the following:- Evaluate the property to determine drilling and trenching feasibility that will satisfy the local setback requirements and adhere to company safety standards- Examine the interior of the home to determine installation feasibility and identify potential risks to the project- Review building plans for new construction and renovation projects- Perform ACCA Manual J heat load calculations- Perform ACCA Manual S system sizing and selection- Evaluate existing ductwork to provide specifications for and pricing of required ductwork modifications- Perform ACCA Manual D duct design for homes without ductwork or homes needing complete duct replacement- Perform electrical service sizing calculations based on the National Electrical Code to determine if an electrical service upgrade is required to support the new and existing electrical loads- Calculate the geothermal ground loop sizing using LoopLink RLC- Prepare detailed project plans to communicate the scope and specifications of the project to the customer and the operations team in order to execute a successful installationSome of my unique contributions are listed below:- I developed a method for creating scaled drawings using our existing software tools, which was necessary to provide permitting documents required by certain AHJs- I was most often the designer who would find the errors in our spreadsheet tools and prescribe the solution as well as suggest improvements- I regularly reached out to members of other departments to share information and fill in gaps in knowledge which I believe prevented many potential issues and also lead us to develop better practices and tools sooner rather than later

Develop custom equipment from concepts into a customer deliverable product. Produce accurate part and assembly drawings for manufacture and assembly. Work with 3rd party vendors to integrate off-the-shelf components where needed. Appropriately specify pneumatic and electric actuators, sensors, robots, and other automation components. Work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure project success.

Review RFP's and collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team to develop detailed proposals including concept, cost, and schedule. Perform cycle time analysis, tolerance analysis, and value engineering to ensure success. Present to both internal and external clients to effectively communicate scope, deliverables, and exceptions. Work with vendors to specify components and equipment for integration into the final product.

Support ongoing initiatives of the Feild Service group including project management, project feasibility analysis, and remote support. Develop internal documentation of service and support records. Work directly with customers as well as dealers to provide excellent product support. Work in a tight-knit start-up environment working with all members of the company as needed.In this role I am a key member of a project management team continuing to provide solutions to the many challenges of the construction industry. I manage customer needs and provide technical support before and after sale. I still wear many hats as in my Field Service role, but am more dedicated to planning, project management, and customer support.

Provide technical support, and training for the SAM100 Brick Laying system, and MULE lift assist. Responsibilities include job planning, on-site coordination, and daily reporting. Develop documentation and training material as well as system improvements based on customer feedback.

Develop and carry out test plans for product development and testing including development of LabVIEW programs and configuration of data acquisition hardware. Perform thermal analysis and design cooling techniques for product development. Control all mechanical design aspects of products and perform tolerance analysis of assemblies. Communicate with manufacturers to produce hard parts. Maintain and operate test engines and vehicles.
