I am board certified in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal medicine. A Fellow of the American Board of Pediatrics and a member of both the North Carolina Medical Society and the Southern Association of Neonatologists, I have worked in neonatal and perinatal research over the past 22 years. During my career I have had principal investigator responsibilities for at least 25 clinical studies. After receiving my MD from the Medical College of Georgia (now Georgia Health Sciences University), I completed a residency in Pediatrics and then my fellowship in Neonatology at the Medical University of South Carolina. After finishing fellowship, I joined WakeMed Health & Hospitals in Raleigh, NC where I held positions as a staff Neonatologist and clinical assistant professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina until 2013 when I became a full-time employee of WakeMed Health & Hospitals. I continued to work as a neonatologist and researcher until joining Premier full time in 2022.My research projects focused on preterm and very-low-birth-weight infants. I have had significant NICU experience, served as member and then chair of the IRB at WakeMed Health & Hospitals covering 22 years, coordinated the efforts to head WakeMed’s being a satellite site to Duke University as part of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Neonatal Research Network, as well as serving on a number of pertinent clinical quality improvement projects in association with the Vermont Oxford Network. I completed my undergraduate studies at West Georgia College (now West Georgia University).
