I am a seasoned Software Engineer with 7+ years of experience working with incredibly bright people identifying and solving difficult problems across various domains. I am passionate about improving interactions between people and ever-increasingly intelligent software systems and have had the opportunity to work on a multitude of projects related to those efforts, including:1. Autonomous Vehicle Behavior Development and Testing: I've contributed to cutting-edge research projects focused on making advancements in the field of distributed, coordinated autonomous vehicles interacting with each other as well as with manned counterparts. My work includes designing behavior models, developing decentralized coordinated task execution, and creating explainable representations of complex behaviors to improve robot-human teaming. These projects have given me the opportunity to develop these systems both using simulation environments as well as in real life with full-sized autonomous vehicles.2. Unity Game Engine Simulations: As a developer excited by the potential that technology holds for improving training and teaching exercises (as well as a millennial that grew up enamored with video games), I have been lucky enough to apply my software engineering skills towards developing an immersive training simulation using the Unity game engine. This "video game" was developed to enhance learning experiences and provide trainees with simulated scenarios and real-time feedback while tracking their progress to improve their training regimen.3. Human-Machine Interactions: Throughout every system I have worked on, I have had a focus on providing seamless interactions between humans and the technology we are developing. Especially when working with autonomous vehicles or any other "AI behavior engines", it is absolutely essential to be able to easily explain to observers and operators exactly what the autonomous agent is doing and, often more importantly, *why* it is doing it.My experience has afforded me opportunities to work at all levels of project operation: from requirements gathering and initial architecture designs, through task definition, execution, and tracking, all the way up to demonstrating state-of-the-art technologies to customers and subject matter experts.
