See www.gridspy.com • Developed two custom devices with a modular design and daughter boards• On chip devices include a highly integrated Silicon Labs 8051 microprocessor, off the shelf Ethernet IC, radio logic and a microSD card for storage• The radio link uses the latest Silicon Labs RF integrated circuits on the 900MHz band to give a radio link that achieved a open field 1000 meter range. The use of spread spectrum prevents jamming, and eliminates multi-path problems.• Low level firmware for microSD, accurate AC power readings, zero crossing detection and power factor calculation• Full system test code in Python for calibration and quality assurance• Integrated with our existing solution and customized deployment for various clients such as window controls in an eco home• Licensed Silicon Labs Ethernet source code so we could ensure real time performance for our power monitoring requirements

In 2012 this product was updated to a new version to accommodate the latest technologies. • Servo control card for robots and xy tables• Control cards for packing machinery• Control cards for hydraulic pipe-machining centre• Control cards for pumping situations involving the automatic start up and shut down of internal combustion engines• KidKab audio entertainment system for children in shopping carts in USAo Remote stand received notes and coins. Design for broadcast systems a system with RS422 for camera control, also LTC (linear time code) receiver, and 16 input/output channels. Managed the project from the user manual through to delivering circuit boards. This project included all firmware for the circuit board, except the LTC receiver which was coded by another engineer in UK. This was contract work running in parallel with my other work.
