Served as the Agile Product Owner for the development of the Course and Unit Builder (cub.edu.au), an enterprise-level online learning design application based on a series of processes and tools I co-developed, utilised and refined over the past decade. Designed the strategy for the institutional implementation of a transition to distance learning in response to COVID-19, while contributing to its implementation through mentoring and coaching educational development staff and leading complex transitions. Led the development of a comprehensive curriculum lifecycle framework that is used to guide the design, review and enhancement of programs and their constituent units. Coached and mentored a group of educational/academic development staff to facilitate rapid curriculum design and enhancement with complex teaching teams and external stakeholders. Served as an institutional escalation point to facilitate the (re)design of complex programs of study with large teaching teams and external stakeholder groups beyond the capability of educational development staff and course coordinators. Performed teaching duties in the Graduate Certificate of University Learning and Teaching centred on adult learning, learning design and assessment.

Led the use of learning design practices to re-design the undergraduate engineering qualifications in the School of Engineering. Lead-authored the chapter ‘Learning design as a necessary enabler for curriculum renewal’ in the UTAS Curriculum White Paper.Co-authored the learning and teaching objectives and short-term action plan for review and endorsement by the university executive.Implemented the use of learning design processes in the curriculum approval life-cycle.Facilitated the design of various University College associate degree programs and constituent units, using bespoke self-designed learning design processes and use of VET training packages. Reviewed the first-year curriculum across the college using a self-authored review instrument to garner support for the adoption of learning design processes. Facilitated course evaluation activities with most qualifications in the college/faculty. Designed and facilitated the learning design stream in ELT521 Professional Practice in Higher Education.Prepared the proposal for a one-button recording studio due to be implemented in the College in the immediate future.

Managed a small educational development team to provide curriculum and digital delivery services for the AMC VET and H/E teaching programs. Managed the AMC Learning and Teaching budget in consultation with the Associate Dean Learning and teaching. Co-authored the learning and teaching objectives and short-term action plans for review and endorsement by the university executive. Lead developed an action and implementation plan for blended learning and curriculum renewal at the AMC.Embedded quality improvement practices into a suite of work procedures within the AMC Quality Framework.Prepared the design brief and co-chaired the project user group for the development of a pilot collaborative learning space built at the Newnham campus. Produced a suite of position papers to advise the Learning and Teaching and Executive committees on topics related to curriculum renewal, quality improvement and assurance of learning.Facilitated a professional development event for UTAS Associate Deans (Learning and Teaching) and senior academic staff on program level curriculum design. Coordinated / co-facilitated professional development events with academics from external universities.Produced open educational processes/resources on curriculum design which have been mandated at AMC, the UTAS cross-faculty and are being trialled at an array of other Australian Universities.Project managed a significant upgrade to a custom built remote operable video production studio, accompanied by facilitating professional development for educational design staff contracted to operate the facility.

Advised academic staff on their design and management of blended units of study.Developed a process for the design of constructively aligned blended units of study, incorporating a conversational framework and various learning design templates. Developed workshops and self-paced online learning resources to support the rollout of a new learning management system (Desire2Learn Brightspace).Contributed to various projects and committees (e.g. Faculty Learning and Teaching Committees).Project managed the development of an open course in consultation with Open Universities Australia.Mentored early career educational development colleagues.Served as a Quality Matters peer reviewer reviewing external units of study.

Co-convened a learning and teaching conference for university staff.Provided teachers with pedagogical advice on the use of e-learning technologies and on the design of online units of study.Served as a mentor for a group of teachers employed on a part time basis as e-learning champions in their respective departments.Managed an externally funded project on workforce and leadership development.Established a community of practice for teachers working with blended learning, supported by a social network.

Provided pedagogical and technical support to academic staff on the use of e-learning to aid student retention. Developed an interactive learning module for academics to implement online collaborative learning.Prepared a comprehensive discussion paper exploring the role of collaborative online learning utilizing freeware and open-source software. Prepared a literature review on strategies to support student retention.Utilised the data warehouse to produce retention rates, which reflected various definitions of ‘attrition’. Contributed to the development of a unit on blended/online learning in the Graduate Certificate of Tertiary Education.Delivered guest lectures into various undergraduate Bachelor of Education units.
