The Old Waterworks is a professional contemporary art gallery, artist studios, screening room, print room and dark room situated in a Victorian waterworks building in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.My role is to ensure the smooth running of the gallery space as well as assisting in the development of the gallery's programme, events and exhibitions. I also take care of the day to day management of the facility including overseeing finances, building maintenance, dealing with enquiries as well as liaising with other members of the Old Waterworks team to facilitate the growth of the community.

We produce small batch chutney, jams, marmalades, mustards, oils etc using (as far as possible) local produce, fairly traded produce and local businesses. We sell. at local produce markets. We also cater for small events

Steve has managed all operations over two busy skateparks and youth centres serving vibrant and varied communities. This involved most aspects of organising a team of ten young people including creating rotas, food safety and first aid training, disciplinary proceedings and payment of staff using Sage Payroll. He was responsible for all the ordering of stock, stock control and stock checks as well as producing trading statements. He also organised the hiring of equipment and facilities by the public and other youth services.Steve was responsible for all aspects of health and safety of both sites including producing risk assessments on an annual basis and implementing and maintaining food safety documentation for both sites, both of which received a 5 star hygiene rating. Steve organised local events on a regular basis, which included staff management, designing programmes, advertising, liaising with local councils and securing sponsorship & funding.
