Mechanical Interface Design Engineer
CurrentDesign Mechanical / Piping / Firewater / Safety Interfaces for when an offshore mobile drilling jack-up or accommodation vessel is positioned alongside a fixed platform.Typically this will include: -Attending Kick-Off, Planning, Technical, Hazard Identification (HAZID) meetings to form Interface project workscope and requirements. Produce MOM / report.Carrying out offshore / onshore site surveys, and producing reports for client and conveying information to colleagues.Designing structural bridge / stairtower link together with rig positioning / tolerances, firewater and deluge systems, and installation of safety equipment.Producing design, fabrication, hydraulics and installation drawings, with workscopes and MTO's (Material Take Off), using Bentley Microstation, AutoCAD, FireCAD (Hydraulics CAD software), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), and Adobe Writer.Producing project plan using Microsoft Project software.Producing quotes and ordering of materials.Arranging personnel and material logistics, producing manifest and cargo summary tickets etc, and preparing tooling, equipment and certification.Installing, testing and commissioning interface structures, equipment and systems.All of the above performed whilst constantly keeping in contact with clients, vendors and colleagues (management, mechanical & electrical engineers, workshop techs and construction supervisor), whilst adhering to safety standards and legislation in-line with fast track delivery requirements of the offshore industry, compounded by the fluid and changeable nature of rig moves.
