Hi, I’m Stephen Mant, licensed accountant, Xero Certified Advisor (or master, as I like to call myself) and founder of Mant & Co, a fast growing accountancy firm, based in Southampton. I’m also a marathon runner, and proud Dad of three - it’s not all about business. When people ask me why I chose to be an accountant, I usually give them a generic answer - I’m good with numbers, or I like wearing a tie. In truth, having worked at McDonalds for almost a decade, I woke up one morning wondering if I would ever do anything more meaningful with my life. After a chat with my accountant Dad, I went to night school, studied accountancy, and joined his firm as an apprentice.I struck out on my own in 2016, and it’s certainly a far cry from McDonalds, but I love every moment of my number crunching professional life. We provide the usual range of accounting services - bookkeeping, payroll, financial accounting and prep, tax compliance, budgeting and forecasting, VAT, personal and business income tax, corporation tax, and capital gains tax - but we offer something more. People actually enjoy talking to us about their finances, as we help them effectively manage their wealth and seize new opportunities, rather than bailing them out once a year at the dreaded tax return time.
