I was responsible for the management of GP Appraisal and Revalidation within the areas of Camden, Enfield and Islington which consisted of 714 doctors.My role was to deliver a GP appraisal system in line with Department of Health guidelines and ensure that all doctors, appraisers and appraisees were supported throughout the appraisal process and were ready for Revalidation. Duties included annually allocating local Doctors with appraisers, ensuring that each doctor was assisted throughout the whole appraisal process, running regular training sessions throughout the year.Maintain a 100% annual completion of appraisals within the three areas ’.Responsible to Medical DirectorAttend Quality Assurance Working Group meetings and liaise with London Deanery.Arrange and attend meetings with clinicians and directors,Organise recruitment, training and support for appraisers.Arranging monthly payments to both Appraisees and Appraisers.Calculate annual budget and advise finance department. Initially employed on a six-month contract to work on reducing List Inflation in the local area I gained knowledge of the Patient Services database and secured a permanent post within the department eight months later. In 2004 I was promoted to Team Leader for the Enfield Section. Assisting the Patient and Practitioner Services manager with the daily duties upon the Enfield Section, I was responsible for the day to day running of a team consisting of six members, allocating workloads, registering patients onto the Alternative Care Scheme. Maintaining and improving computer databases and the daily use of the Exeter system, other duties included covering for the manager in her absence, organizing recruitment, taking on projects including the redevelopment of the access to medical records process, dealing with complex telephone enquiries from members of the public and personal callers to the office with various sensitive issues, and solving complex miss-association cases. Authorizing and processing ophthalmic payments. During my time within the Patient and Practitioner Services department I gained valuable experience of working to tight deadlines, under constant pressure. The role involved regular contact with the general practitioners and members of the public.
